Agility classes : Foundation Level

Cost for 6 week session is $175 + HST. Register for BOTH 6 week sessions (level 1 & 2) at the same time for $320 + HST.

Our beginner agility program is organized into two - six week sessions: Foundation level 1 & Foundation level 2. Every dog learns at a different speed and safety is our primary concern in this program. Dogs must know basic obedience skills such as sit/down stay and come when called. Off leash control exercises and other skills are assigned as homework. Graduates of our 12 week puppy program may enter agility at Foundation Level 2. Dogs that have taken a beginner program at another facility may do a private session to evaluate where they can start in our foundation agility program.

Level 1 focuses on introducing dogs to body awareness, agility equipment and reading their handler's cues. All types of jumps, tunnels, beginner and then half height contact equipment and 2 x 2/channel weave method are introduced. Dog/handler teams will learn how to complete simple sequences and practice basic handling cues.

Are you ready? checklist for Agility Foundations

Level 2 is for dogs that have had a proper introduction to all the agility equipment. Fully height contact equipment, including teeter are used and as well as multiple weave poles. Dog/handler teams will be able complete more complicated sequences with different handling cues by the end of Level 2.

Agility classes : Advanced, Sequence, Games & Competitive Levels

Once a dog/handler team has completed the Agility Foundations program, they may enter higher level classes. All sessions are six weeks unless otherwise noted. Price varies per class. Register for both Advanced level 1 & 2 together and SAVE!

Advanced Agility is divided into two - six week sessions to group dog/handler teams according to their skills, confidence on equipment (especially contacts and weave poles) and ability to complete sequences. Advanced level 1 - continues to build a dog's confidence on all equipment, learn how to read sequences, choose appropriate handling strategies and practice handling cues on those sequences and work at distances. Advanced level 2 - uses more complicated and longer sequences to challenge dog/handler teams who are confident on all equipment and have an understanding of reading sequences and giving appropriate cues to their dogs.

Competitive Agility is an ongoing program, organized into six week blocks, for dog/handler teams who would like to go to agility trials and earn agility titles. Sequence classes are designed with a variety of challenges so that handlers have opportunities to read courses, discuss handling options and then practice them. Fun-agility is for graduates of our Advanced Program who want to meet weekly to play on an agility course.

Agility Houseleague

Once a month, on either a Monday or Saturday morning, we offer a 'mock trial' situation where dog/handler teams can come and practice three different agility courses. All levels of handlers are welcome once they have graduation from a Foundation Level program. Handlers get an opportunity to walk and discuss each course before they run it. Each team has 2 minutes in the ring on each course to either run the whole course, or practice parts of it or just work on an exercise of the handler's choice. The atmosphere is casual, friendly and encouraging. A maximum of 25 dog/handler teams are allowed at each house league session. Pre-registration is STRONGLY encouraged.

FALL/WINTER
Mondays at 10:00 am: July 10, Aug 14, Sept 11
Saturdays at 9:00 am: July 8, Aug 12, Sept 16
